Day Four...
Beach Day
Beach Day
Day four was a day to relax! We got up around 8:30, and then went to the beach. I had reviewed several beaches and we ended up going to Voula Beach. I had read reviews that the Bloom was a nice place to go and experience this beach.
We got to the beach around 10:00 and I was able to get us two bean bag lounges at the back of the beach near the restaurant with two rented towels. Jason and I went into the water and the water was so clear that I could see the ground through the water while chest deep. We went back to our chairs and just relaxed. At one point, Jason asked me if it was a topless beach, and before I could say that I did not think it was, I looked up and saw a late '60s early '70s year old woman without her top. She was the only female who is topless, and she didn't seem to care that she was getting dirty looks from many of the other women on the beach.
Around 12:30 or 1:00 Jason and I went to a small cafe and had a pizza and some pop. The pizza was good. We sat there and talked about various topics and then went back to the beach. Another older woman shortly after we got back from lunch, confronted the topless woman but the topless woman did not care, and just kind of shrugged her shoulders and shooed the other woman away.
Jason went back into the water by himself while I sat in the lounge chair bean bag and just relaxed and then around 3:30 Jason and I left and came back to the Airbnb.
I got a shower and then we left so that Jason could go to the youth hostel that he would spend Sunday night at, to get acclimated to the hostle lifestyle.
We got to the youth hostel and he checked in and ended up needing to leave his bag at the front desk because the doors didn't lock and he needed to secure his bag. After he checked in we went to a Bulgarian restaurant where I had moussaka Jason had chicken skewers. The food was very good and after we were done I walked Jason back to the youth hostel and dropped him off. My boy is a man of the world now!
I came back to the Airbnb and talked to Jen for a while, and then ended up going to bed. Tomorrow, Jason and I will meet up for breakfast and I will say my final goodbye to my son, and I will see him again, hopefully, at Christmas time in Germany.
This entire experience has been quite an emotional roller coaster for me, I'm excited that my son is living out his dreams, but I do have some trepidation about him being off on his own in a very big world. I'm excited for him, and I'm excited to hear all of his adventures and stories, but I can't say that I'm not sad that he will be so far away from me.
